About This Worksheet
This Foundation phonics worksheet supports children as they move from hearing individual sounds to blending them into simple CVC words. CVC words contain a consonant, vowel and consonant, making them useful for early decoding practice.
I Can Checklist
- I can say the individual sounds.
- I can blend sounds together.
- I can read a simple CVC word.
How to Use It
Encourage children to say each sound slowly, then slide the sounds together without adding extra sounds between them. If a word is difficult, model it once and let the child try again.
Parent Tip
Use simple words from everyday life for extra practice. You can orally blend words such as cat, sun, map and dog before asking your child to identify the whole word.
