About This Worksheet
This worksheet gives children repeated practice connecting familiar letters with their sounds. Strong letter-sound knowledge is an important foundation for blending sounds to read simple words.
I Can Checklist
- I can name the letters I see.
- I can say the common sound for a letter.
- I can use letter sounds when I try to read a word.
How to Use It
Introduce a small group of letters at a time and say each sound clearly. Ask the child to identify the letter, produce its sound and then revisit the same letters later. When appropriate, connect the sounds to simple words for early blending practice.
Parent Tip
Practise for a few minutes at a time using letter cards, signs or labels around the home. Focus on the sound represented by the letter rather than asking children to memorise a long list.
