About This Worksheet
This Foundation Science worksheet helps children observe and describe familiar plant features using simple scientific language. It is designed to connect classroom learning with real plants children may see at home, school or in the local environment.
I Can Checklist
I can identify visible features of a plant. I can describe what I notice. I can compare features of familiar plants.
How to Use It
Start with a real plant or clear plant photograph. Ask children to look closely before naming features. Encourage them to describe leaves, stems, flowers, roots or other visible features using words such as long, short, smooth, rough, green, large and small. Complete the worksheet together first if needed, then allow independent practice.
Parent Tip
Take the learning outside. Ask your child to choose two plants and explain one way they are similar and one way they are different. Focus on what they can observe rather than memorising plant-part names.
Learning Intention
Students observe and describe the features of familiar plants.
