Learning Tricky Words

Tricky words are common words that may not be easy to sound out using the phonics patterns children already know. Frequent reading and writing helps build quick recognition.

Remember and Check

  1. Look closely at the whole word.
  2. Say the parts you know.
  3. Notice the part that does not follow the expected pattern.
  4. Write the word and check each letter.

Read each word in a short sentence to connect accurate spelling with meaning.
